This is the standard and minimum which is needed to start a digital signage installation. A monitor or a monitor with an integrated viewneo playermonitor with an integrated viewneo player. Every digital signage player from viewneo allows the image to be rotated remotely using Digital Signage software. This means you can use the familiar 16:9 format, and then rotate it 90 degrees.
The content should be the main driver for determining the format. For example, an advertising poster is most often displayed in portrait, especially fashion since it shows off the entire outfit. However, films and anything that would normally be displayed on a TV tends to use the landscape format.
A banner is a variation of a normal video wall where the picture consists of only one row of several monitors. As a result, the format is no longer the standard 16:9, but it can produce some impressive effects. With this setup panoramas really shine.
Setup with splitter: The setup is similar to a normal video wall, but you simply omit the other rows. The splitter uses, for example, the top third of the video image and then divides it over the three monitors.
Setup with viewneo ScreenSync Plugin: Instead of a splitter, four viewneo Digital Signage Players are used. Each player is responsible for one screen. The content is distributed across the three monitors by synchronization, resulting in a common video image. This option also allows you to control each monitor individually. Which means that one monitor can display stock market information, while another shows the latest weather. However, when content in the playlist is designed to be displayed as a panorama, then all three monitors switch to display the content.
There are two options for installing a video wall with viewneo.
First option: This requires that you use a player and split the video signal with a splitter and then distribute it to the monitors connected to it. The resolution of the player (HD or 4K) is then divided among the monitors. The advantage is that the pictures are absolutely synchronized across all of the monitors. However, there is the disadvantage of this approach in that the images themselves lose some of their sharpness.
Second option: This uses the viewneo ScreenSync plugin. Each monitor is operated with its own player (4K Signagebox). This allows you to supply each monitor in the video wall with individual content, as well as synchronized content. The resolution remains at the maximum resolution for each monitor. The advantages are that you can display both individual and video wall content easily through the viewneo CMS, while maintaining the resolution. The disadvantage is that there can be minor synchronization problems due to a lag on the network; however, these are usually only a few milliseconds and are barely perceptible by the eye.
If a standard 16:9 format (or 9:16) is required, then you have the option of building video walls that are 2x2 or 3x3, and so on. The advantage of this type of installation is the high volume of landscape content that can be used. For example, dynamic content from Youtube with the viewneo Plugin can be integrated, as long as the aspect ratio is the same.
In this example, a TV live stream was temporarily integrated into an area of the video wall, using the viewneo CMS. Then a separate news tickernews ticker was also used. With viewneo, news ticker content can be created manually or automatically via the RSS Feeds functionality.
There are two options for this installation using a total of six monitors. If a total resolution of 4K (UHD) is enough, then a 4K SignageBox and an HDMI video splitter are required. However, viewneo also gives you the option of arranging several players (and screens) to create your own picture. This also gives you the freedom to operate each monitor individually and display different content at the same time. Each monitor will still have a 4K resolution, so a total resolution of 6 x 4K is achieved by using 6 viewneo players. Additionally, in this option, you don’t need to use a video splitter. It requires 6 4K SignageBoxs as players, and one 4K SignageBox as the sync master, which is responsible for controlling the timing for all of the other players and the Screen Sync Plugin from viewneo.
Every viewneo player is basically suitable for use in a digital signage stele. A distinction is generally made between these devices for outdoor and indoor use. Steles for outdoor use are significantly more expensive than indoor steles. Outdoor steles must be weatherproof, endure permanent rain, and offer better protection against possible vandalism. That is why there are steles which are designed with built-in air-conditioning systems, as well as heaters to ensure trouble-free operation in both the middle of summer and dead of winter.
The 4K SignageBox is protected inside these devices, which helps to ensure that the conditions for the player remain constant.
The prices for digital advertising or information steles therefore vary widely - depending on the quality, features and size.
LED panels can be seen more and more on exterior facades. They have an outstanding brightness and can be almost any size because they are composed of individual, often square tiles (read: cascaded). The panels each have their own electronics in the individual tiles, but also require an additional ballast and, when used with a viewneo 4K SignageBox, a video converter that converts the signal from HDMI to a signal that the ballast needs. LED video walls are becoming more and more affordable and are therefore being used more and more. They are available as indoor and outdoor units with rain resistance.
Additionally, there have been improvements in distance between the individual LEDs over time. There are now LED panels with 0.3 mm pixel spacing. As a rule, such a density is not necessary at all, but depends on how far the viewer is from the panel. If the distance is 10 meters, 3 mm pixel spacing is sufficient to produce a clean, high-resolution image for the eye.
The motto does not always apply: the bigger the better. Digital signage solutions are also available for small screens from 14 inches in size, as professional digital signage monitors from 19 inches and as tablet PCs in versions up to 20 inches. If a tablet PC is used, it incorporates a touch display which allows you to operate interactive digital signage on a small budget. Classic kiosk systems can then be implemented using the viewneo Touch Elements Plugin. These systems are available as table stands or stand systems and are mostly used to create customer information systems, question terminals or digital product consultants.
viewneo Player Software is available as a free app for IOS (iPad) and Android. We can offer fully installed complete solutions on request or advise you at any time to ensure reliable digital signage operation, especially with Android tablets.
The viewneo Diwa is a nerd among the digital signage display solutions from viewneo listed here. As a battery-operated e-paper solution, this product represents a table stand for the catering, bar and hotel industries. The focus of this solution is completely different from that of normal monitors or tablets.
The table stand does not stand out because of it's range of color - it can only display 4 shades of gray - and it does not shine with the number of different media that it can display. The table display only needs electricity once a week - or only once a month, depending on use. The reduction in movement in the display (only static images) and the completely different approach to use make the Diwa a chic product with the charm of a chalk board . No constantly changing content in a repetitive broadcast loop disturbs the guest. Nevertheless, from time to time it automatically changes the content and adjusts to the times of day and guests.
